The Constitution Party of Texas
Resolution on Ending Welfare
WHEREAS, the legitimate function of government is to protect the life, the liberty and the property of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the 9th and 10th Articles of the Bill of Rights specifically forbid all functions of the Federal Government except those specifically delegated to it; and
WHEREAS, the entire system of government welfare is a communist idea predicated upon the concept of taking from the rich and giving to the poor; and
WHEREAS, the Constitution of Texas does not empower the State Government to take money from one group to benefit another, and
WHEREAS, both major political parties are socialistic in nature, differing only in how to "reform" the welfare system;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Constitution Party of Texas calls upon all elected officials to abolish the welfare system entirely, shutting off the valves that both destroy families and attract illegal immigrants, and creating a situation where those who really need help may once again be assisted by their families and their churches without competition from the State.
Resolution on Peaceable Secession
WHEREAS, it is the right of a free People, through lawfully constituted representatives, to enter into an alliance, contract, or covenant with another; and
WHEREAS, whenever it is determined that said relationship has become inimical to the interests of a free people, it is the right and the duty of a free People withdraw from that alliance, contract or covenant, as clearly articulated in the Declarations of Independence of the United States of America and the Republic of Texas;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the Constitution Party of Texas calls upon the State of Texas to recognize the right of peaceable and lawful secession as a sacred right of a Free People.
Resolution on Illegal Immigration
WHEREAS, the problem of terrorism is exacerbated by borders which are insecure; and
WHEREAS, several thousand illegal immigrants cross our borders with impunity every day, and are even protected by the authorities; and
WHEREAS, many of these immigrants do not come to work, but to get as many free government services as they possibly can; and
WHEREAS, many of the children of these criminals become gang members and criminals themselves, greatly increasing the crime rate of our border states;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the Constitution Party of Texas calls upon the Federal Government, as well as the State of Texas, through our own State Guard, to act promptly to seal all ports of entry and all borders to reduce illegal immigrants from easy access; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Constitution Party of Texas calls upon the State of Texas and the Federal Government to cease immediately providing any public services to illegal immigrants, except incarceration and deportation; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Constitution Party of Texas calls upon an amendment to the U.S. Constitution providing that a person born in the United States or its territories, or any place subject to its jurisdiction, shall not be a citizen of the United States unless at least one natural parent is confirmed to be a citizen of the United States at the time of birth.
